Description

## Apache ActiveMQ Artemis on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

Apache ActiveMQ Artemis is the next-generation message broker from the ActiveMQ project, delivering high-throughput, low-latency messaging over AMQP, MQTT, STOMP, OpenWire, and JMS from a single broker. This image is built and maintained by cloudimg on a hardened, fully patched Ubuntu 24.04 LTS base.

### What's included

  • Apache ActiveMQ Artemis on OpenJDK 17, managed by systemd
  • The Hawtio-based web management console on port 80, protected by authentication
  • Broker acceptors (AMQP, MQTT, STOMP, core) bound to loopback for security
  • A unique broker password generated on first boot (no shared default credential)
  • Journal and message data stored on a dedicated managed data disk
  • Automatic security updates enabled

### Getting started

Retrieve the generated password with `sudo cat /root/artemis-credentials.txt`, then sign in to the console at the VM's public IP, or produce/consume with the bundled CLI: `artemis producer --user artemis --password --destination queue://DEMO`. The deployment guide on cloudimg.co.uk covers protocols, addresses, and day-2 operations.
