Overview

Apache Sling is an open source framework from the Apache Software Foundation for building content centric web applications on top of a Java Content Repository. It pairs an OSGi runtime with a JCR content store so that HTTP requests map directly onto repository resources, and it powers content management systems, web platforms and RESTful content services. The bundled Web Console gives administrators a live view of the running OSGi framework, its bundles and configuration.

Why the cloudimg image

cloudimg ships Apache Sling hardened and fully patched, running as a single Java service behind an nginx reverse proxy and preconfigured so the welcome page and administration console are available on first boot. No default login is baked into the image: a unique administrator password is generated on first boot, the repository lives on a dedicated data volume, and 24/7 cloudimg support backs the image.

Common uses

  • Content centric web applications
  • Java content repository services
  • RESTful content delivery
