Overview
Easy Digital Downloads is an open source ecommerce platform built on WordPress and dedicated to selling digital goods rather than physical stock. Each product is a download: ebooks, software, plugins, themes, music, photography, design assets or documents. It provides a full shopping cart and checkout, secure file delivery with access control so paid files cannot be shared by URL, discount codes, customer records and purchase histories, and detailed sales and earnings reporting.
Because it is a WordPress plugin, the storefront is an ordinary WordPress site: you get the familiar admin, the theme ecosystem and a REST API alongside the commerce features. It suits creators, software vendors and agencies who want a self hosted digital storefront they fully own and control rather than a hosted marketplace that takes a cut of every sale.

The image is secure by default and ships no default login: the build time database is destroyed before capture, and on each instance's first boot a fresh administrator account, a unique database password and a unique database root password are generated and written to a root only credentials file. The site address is resolved and configured automatically on first boot so sign in works on the public address with no manual editing, permalinks are already set up for download and checkout URLs, and every deployment comes with a paired deployment guide and 24/7 cloudimg support.
