Robust, massively scalable self-hosted XMPP (Jabber) real-time messaging server for instant messaging, presence, multi-user chat rooms (MUC) and PubSub, on your own infrastructure and speaking the open XMPP standard so any compliant client can connect. Delivered fully installed from the official ProcessOne package behind an nginx reverse proxy with ejabberd's built-in web admin console - a messaging server serving within minutes. Current release ejabberd 26.04. The web admin runs on loopback fronted by nginx with the WebSocket upgrade XMPP-over-WebSocket and BOSH clients need; the client-to-server (5222) and server-to-server (5269) ports are exposed. Its configuration, Mnesia database and certificate live on a dedicated independently resizable data disk. First boot generates a fresh server-administrator account with a unique password for every instance, recorded in a root-only file - no shared or default account ships.
