Overview
Binner is a self hosted parts inventory system for electronics: makers, hobbyists and professional engineers use it to catalogue components, track stock levels and locations, and find the right part fast. It presents a web interface for adding and searching parts, organising them by type and storage location, recording quantities and low stock thresholds, and attaching datasheets and metadata, with barcode scanning to add and look up parts quickly. Part details can be enriched from external supplier catalogues when you supply your own API keys, but this is entirely optional; the system runs completely standalone, keeping your inventory in a self contained database on the server you control.
It suits anyone who needs to know what components they have and where they are: an individual maker's home lab, a hackerspace or lab shared by a team, or an engineering department managing reels, trays and bins of parts across projects.
Why the cloudimg image
cloudimg delivers Binner fully installed and configured behind nginx, so the web interface answers the moment the instance boots with nothing to assemble. It ships secure by default with no shared credential: Binner seeds a default admin account, so on the first boot of every instance that credential is rotated to a unique per instance password written to a root only file, the token signing key is generated uniquely per instance, and the application refuses to serve until that rotation completes, so the default login is never reachable and no two instances share a secret. The inventory database stays on the instance you control, the base is fully patched with unattended security upgrades enabled, and every deployment is paired with a step by step deploy guide, backed by 24/7 cloudimg support.
