Overview

ERDDAP is a scientific data server. It sits in front of gridded and tabular datasets, oceanographic, atmospheric, satellite or your own, and gives all of them one consistent web interface and REST API. A person or a script can ask for any subset of any dataset and receive it as CSV, JSON, netCDF, an HTML table, a graph or a map, without knowing how the underlying data is stored.

Why the cloudimg image

cloudimg ships ERDDAP hardened and fully patched, running on a servlet container and Java runtime taken from the distribution archive so the whole stack keeps receiving security updates. The catalogue is populated on first boot from data held on the machine itself, so nothing depends on a remote server. Configuration, cache and served data sit on a dedicated data volume, the administrative pages are protected by a password generated uniquely for every machine, and 24/7 support stands behind the image.

Common uses
