Overview

go-pmtiles is Protomaps' open source tile server. It reads one PMTiles archive and serves standard z/x/y map tiles and TileJSON over HTTP, plus the PMTiles HTTP range protocol, so an entire basemap lives in a single file with no tile database to run. It suits self hosted maps, offline and air gapped deployments, and map tile APIs.

Why the cloudimg image

cloudimg delivers go-pmtiles hardened and fully patched, preconfigured with a ready to explore sample OpenStreetMap basemap and a self contained MapLibre web map viewer so a map renders on first boot. The server runs as a non root service behind a hardened reverse proxy, binds loopback only with no admin or write surface, and 24/7 support is included.

Common uses

  • Self hosted map tile serving
  • Offline and air gapped basemaps
  • Map tile APIs for web and mobile apps
