Hermes Agent is an open source, MIT licensed AI agent runtime. It holds a conversation with you and uses tools such as a terminal, file editing, web search and code execution to get real work done on the machine it runs on. It remembers what it learns across sessions, writes its own reusable skills, runs scheduled jobs and can be reached from a web dashboard, its terminal interface, messaging apps like Telegram, Discord and Slack, or any OpenAI compatible client.
It suits developers and teams who want an always on agent they control inside their own cloud account, connected to the model provider of their choice.
The cloudimg image installs Hermes Agent for a dedicated unprivileged service account with every runtime it needs baked in, so nothing is downloaded at first boot. The web dashboard is served over HTTPS behind nginx with Hermes' own sign in turned on, and first boot generates a unique admin password, session secret, API key and TLS certificate for every VM, proving the sign in gate before the VM is marked ready. The messaging gateway and its OpenAI compatible API run as services with a per VM bearer key. The paired deployment guide covers connecting a provider, the API, messaging channels and your own domain, and every deployment carries 24/7 support.
