Overview
OpenEduCat is an open source student information and school management application built on the Odoo framework. It covers the academic lifecycle: admissions and student applicants, student and guardian records, academic structure such as programs, courses, batches and subjects, attendance, assignments, exams and results, a parent portal, and a library module.
It suits schools, colleges and training providers that want a single system for admissions through to attendance and exams, without the licensing cost of a proprietary student information system.
Why the cloudimg image
cloudimg ships OpenEduCat with the database already created and the full module suite already installed, so the appliance opens straight to a working system instead of a setup wizard. Security is designed in: the stock admin and admin login that a manual Odoo install ships is rejected on this image, because first boot generates a unique Odoo master password, a unique administrator login password and a unique PostgreSQL database password for every instance, so no two deployments ever share a credential. No student, guardian, admission or fee data is seeded, because school records are the customer's to enter. The base is fully patched with unattended security updates enabled, and every image comes with a step by step deploy guide tested against the exact build and 24/7 cloudimg support.
