a private personal server that puts self hosted communication, file sharing and privacy tools under your own control.
FreedomBox is a Debian Pure Blend that turns a plain server into a private home or small office server, administered entirely through the Plinth web interface. From one dashboard you enable and manage a curated catalogue of self hosted services, including file sharing, backups, a VPN, a personal website and blog, contact and calendar sync, chat and more, without editing config files by hand.
It is aimed at people and small teams who want to own their data rather than rent it from a cloud provider: run your own services, keep your files and communications on infrastructure you control, and hand out accounts to family or colleagues from a single, friendly admin console. Every listed application is Free Software.
The cloudimg image is fully patched at build time and boots straight into FreedomBox with the Plinth web console on HTTPS. There is no default login: a unique first boot setup secret is generated per instance and written to a root only credentials file, so you complete the secure setup wizard and create the first administrator yourself. It ships with a paired step by step deploy guide and 24/7 support.
