Self-Hosted Video Conferencing

Browser-based, fully encrypted meetings on your own server - no accounts, no per-minute fees, no plugin. The four components (prosody for signalling/auth, jicofo for the conference focus, the WebRTC video bridge for media, and nginx for the web app over HTTPS) run as system services.

Secure By Default

A stock Jitsi server lets anyone who can reach it create a room. This image enables secure-domain authentication so only an authenticated moderator can open a meeting, while invited guests join an open room with a single click.

Secure First Boot

On the first boot of every VM a one-shot service registers a fresh moderator account with a strong unique password, sets the public hostname from the VM address, generates a matching certificate, and writes the moderator password to a root-only file. No shared or default credentials ship in the image. The prosody XMPP authentication state lives on a dedicated Azure data disk.

Firewall

Open 22/tcp (SSH), 443/tcp (the meeting web app) and 10000/udp (the video bridge media) to your participants; without UDP 10000 browsers fall back to a TCP relay or fail to connect media.
