Overview
NethServer 8 is an open source platform for running and managing self-hosted applications. It installs a lightweight management layer on the host and deploys applications as isolated containers, all administered through a single web console: install an application from the built in catalog, manage users and domains, configure backups, and monitor the system without touching the command line. Applications run in their own isolated modules, so they stay cleanly separated from each other and from the host.
It suits managed service providers and administrators who want a production grade, self-hosted application platform on an enterprise Linux base: mail and groupware, file sharing, identity and directory services, web and security applications, all from one console, released under the GPL.
Why the cloudimg image
Every virtual machine initialises itself on first boot: it creates its cluster, generates a unique management identity, and rotates the administrator password to a value unique to that machine, written to a root only file, so no two deployments ever share a password and no default password is exposed. The image is fully patched at build time, keeps receiving security updates, and ships with a paired step by step deploy guide and 24/7 support from cloudimg.
