Overview
Oracle Linux 9 Minimal is the minimal package set variant of Oracle Linux 9, a binary compatible enterprise Linux distribution with the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel and an up to date package set. There is no application layered on top: the operating system is the product, stripped of wireless and sound card firmware, the web console, tuning daemons, boot splash screens and other packages a Hyper-V guest never touches, so it boots leaner and gives you a smaller surface to patch and secure.
Why the cloudimg image
cloudimg trims the base image conservatively, removing only packages proven not to be load bearing for boot, networking, SSH, patching or Azure guest integration, then reboots and reproves the image before it ships. There is no default login: SSH access is by the key you supply at launch, password authentication is off and the root account is locked. SELinux ships enforcing with correct labels, unattended security updates are armed and proven with a real dry run rather than a decorative setting, and the image is backed by a paired deploy guide and 24/7 support.
