bewCloud is a lightweight, self hosted personal cloud for files, notes, photos and optional calendars and contacts, a privacy first alternative to the heavier file sync suites.
Overview
bewCloud is an open source personal cloud built around a simple web interface for storing, browsing and sharing your files, together with notes, photos and a dashboard, and optional CalDAV and CardDAV calendars and contacts served by a bundled Radicale. It speaks standard WebDAV, CalDAV and CardDAV, so files and calendars sync with the bewCloud desktop and mobile apps or any compatible client, and everything stays on infrastructure you control.
It suits individuals, families and small teams who want a private, data owning place for their files and personal data without the operational weight of a large groupware suite. Administrators manage accounts and settings from the web interface, sharing can be enabled per file or directory, and the whole instance runs from a single server you own.
Why the cloudimg image
cloudimg delivers bewCloud fully installed and ready, so the web interface answers the moment the instance finishes its first boot with no setup wizard to click through. The image is secure by default: every secret is generated uniquely on each instance's first boot, and a single administrator account is created per instance with a random password written to a root only file, which closes bewCloud's first signup becomes admin behaviour so no one can claim your instance by reaching it first. The application is not exposed on the network until it has been provisioned and password protected, the self hosted database and your files stay on your own server, the base is fully patched with unattended security upgrades enabled, and every deployment is paired with a step by step deploy guide, backed by 24/7 cloudimg support.
