Overview

Eclipse Mosquitto is a lightweight open source message broker that implements the MQTT protocol for publish and subscribe messaging. It is widely used to connect IoT devices, sensors and applications that exchange small messages over constrained networks.

Why the cloudimg image

cloudimg preinstalls Mosquitto with the mosquitto_pub and mosquitto_sub tools, password authentication enabled and no default password. A fresh MQTT password is generated for every instance on first boot and stored in a root only file, backed by 24/7 support.

Common uses

  • IoT device messaging
  • Sensor telemetry
  • Publish subscribe backends
