Overview

Pi-hole is an open source network wide ad and tracker blocking DNS sinkhole. It answers DNS for your network and blocks requests to advertising and tracking domains, so every connected device is filtered without per device software. It includes a web admin interface and REST API.

Why the cloudimg image

cloudimg ships Pi-hole preinstalled as a system service with DNS on port 53 and the embedded web admin on port 80, using the version 6 daemon with no separate web stack. A fresh admin password is generated for every instance on first boot and stored in a root only file, with query data and blocklists on a dedicated resizable disk and 24/7 support included.

Common uses

  • Network wide ad blocking
  • Private DNS resolution
