Overview

1, which you install with your own Red Hat subscription via the included installer helper. No Red Hat software or subscription is included.

Why the cloudimg image

This image arrives installed, configured and hardened, so there is no manual setup before you can use it. It is built on a patched base, runs with credentials generated uniquely for your instance on first boot, and passes an automated health check before every release. Every deployment is backed by 24/7 support from cloudimg engineers.

Key features

  • No default or shared secret: the EAP management password and the HTTPS keystore are generated uniquely on each instance's first boot, and your Red Hat credentials are used once and never stored
  • Locked down before EAP is installed: fully patched Rocky Linux, firewall open to SSH and HTTPS only, the EAP management interface kept on localhost and the instance metadata service blocked for the EAP service
  • Rocky Linux 8 and 9 bases for Red Hat JBoss EAP 8.1: pick one as the software version at launch

Description

This is a repackaged software product wherein additional charges apply for security hardening, secure-by-default configuration and per-instance setup.

What cloudimg adds to every version

  • Every image is built by cloudimg on a fully patched Rocky Linux base (RHEL-compatible) with the latest security updates applied at build time and hardened SSH, firewall and kernel settings.
  • First-boot setup generates the JBoss EAP management password uniquely on each instance and writes it to a root-only file, so no default login exists and no two instances share a secret.
  • The image carries a supported OpenJDK LTS, a systemd service unit and an installer helper that downloads Red Hat JBoss EAP 8.1 with your own Red Hat subscription credentials at first use (never stored in the image) and applies cloudimg's hardened configuration.
  • No Red Hat software ships in the image.
  • Build residue is removed before capture.

Included products

  • Base for Red Hat JBoss EAP 8.1 on Rocky Linux 8
  • Base for Red Hat JBoss EAP 8.1 on Rocky Linux 9

Network and access defaults

  • The EAP web listener is served over HTTPS with a per-instance certificate and the management interface stays on localhost.
