NetBox Network Source of Truth

NetBox is the leading open source Network Source of Truth: a combined IP address management (IPAM) and data centre infrastructure management (DCIM) platform for modelling and documenting your network. It maintains the authoritative record of your IP space, VLANs and VRFs, devices, racks, sites, cabling, circuits and virtualisation, and exposes it all through a full REST and GraphQL API, change logging, custom fields and a webhook automation engine. NetBox is the canonical inventory that network automation and provisioning tooling reads from.

This image delivers NetBox fully installed and reverse-proxied behind nginx, so a complete Network Source of Truth is operational within minutes of launch, with no manual Django, gunicorn, PostgreSQL, Redis or nginx configuration. The application server binds to loopback only and is fronted by nginx, the PostgreSQL database and Redis task queue run as managed system services, and a background worker handles webhooks and long-running jobs. A daily housekeeping task keeps the database tidy automatically. The database tier and the application tier each sit on their own independently resizable disk.

Secure by default: no administrator account and no shared password ship in the image. On first boot the instance address is configured automatically, a fresh Django secret key and API token pepper are generated, the database is initialised empty, and a unique administrator account plus a REST API token are created and written to a root-only file on the instance. This eliminates the default-credential exposure common in manual installations, and no two deployments ever share a secret. Login is required, so your network data is never anonymously browsable.
