Overview

Percona XtraBackup takes hot physical backups of a running MySQL database without locking it, so full and incremental backups run while the database keeps serving traffic. This image pairs it with the MySQL server it protects, so backups, retention and restores work out of the box rather than needing to be assembled.

Why the cloudimg image

cloudimg ships XtraBackup already wired to the bundled MySQL server on a hardened, fully patched Ubuntu 24.04 LTS base: weekly full and daily incremental backups run on a schedule, land on a dedicated data disk with restricted permissions, and are pruned by retention. Every restore path is verified by a built in self test that restores to a scratch directory and compares row counts and checksums. Unique database and backup credentials are generated on first boot with no default login, paired with a deploy guide and 24/7 support.
