Overview

MooseFS is an open source distributed file system that spreads files across a cluster of chunkservers while presenting them as an ordinary POSIX directory tree. It is used for large scale unstructured storage such as media libraries, backups, datasets and shared application data, where applications expect a normal filesystem rather than an object API.

Why the cloudimg image

cloudimg ships MooseFS hardened and fully patched as a self contained single node starter cluster, with the master metadata and chunk storage on a dedicated data volume and the filesystem already mounted. Every MooseFS protocol port is bound to loopback or firewalled to the machine, the web monitor is fronted by TLS with a per VM password generated on first boot, and 24/7 support stands behind the image.
