Overview

Pandora FMS Community is a mature, flexible open source monitoring platform that unifies server, network, application and log monitoring in a single web console. A Perl monitoring server collects metrics from agents installed on your hosts and from remote checks such as ICMP and SNMP against network devices, stores everything in a database, and drives alerting, reporting, inventory and network topology maps. The web console gives you dashboards, visual maps, event history and granular access control.

It suits teams who want a self hosted, all in one monitoring stack on infrastructure they control, from a handful of servers to large distributed estates. Pandora FMS Community is fully open source with no enterprise paywall or feature gating, so you get agent based and agentless monitoring, alerting, SNMP, reporting and dashboards out of the box.

Why the cloudimg image

cloudimg delivers Pandora FMS Community fully installed and configured as an all in one appliance, the web console, the Perl monitoring and Tentacle data servers, the database and a self monitoring agent, so live host metrics and server status are visible the moment you first sign in. It is secure by default: Pandora ships a well known default admin credential, so this image never keeps it, first boot mints a unique per instance administrator password and writes it to a file only root can read, no two machines share a secret. The database binds to loopback only and the firewall opens just SSH and the web console by default. The base is fully patched with unattended security updates enabled, and every image comes with a step by step deploy guide tested against the exact build and 24/7 cloudimg support.

Common uses

  • A self hosted, all in one monitoring stack for servers, applications and services
  • Agentless network and device monitoring with ICMP and SNMP checks
  • Alerting, reporting and topology maps over metrics collected from your own agents
