Overview

SeaweedFS is a distributed storage system for blobs, objects and files, exposing an S3 compatible API alongside a filer with a browsable web interface. It is used to store large volumes of unstructured data such as backups, media, logs and datasets, with applications written for the Amazon S3 API pointing at it unchanged.

Why the cloudimg image

cloudimg ships SeaweedFS hardened and fully patched, with the S3 API and filer web interface fronted by TLS and internal ports bound to loopback. Per-VM S3 keys and a filer password are generated on first boot with no default login, and 24/7 support stands behind the image.

Common uses

  • S3 compatible object storage
  • Backup and archive targets
  • Large scale blob and media storage
