Overview

Vector is a fast, vendor neutral observability data pipeline that collects logs, metrics and traces, reshapes them with a powerful transform language, and routes them to the destinations you choose. It runs as a single self contained binary driven entirely by one plain text configuration file, with no database and no agent fleet to manage. It suits teams who want to control, enrich and reduce their telemetry before it reaches storage, and cut observability costs by filtering and sampling at the edge.

Why the cloudimg image

cloudimg ships Vector as a hardened systemd service that is processing data the moment the instance boots, with a working demo pipeline that generates, parses and routes sample events to a console and a file sink so the round trip is visible immediately. It is secure by default: the optional management API is bound to loopback only rather than the network, the image opens no public data listener, and no secret or token is baked into the image. Paired with a step by step deploy guide and backed by 24/7 support.

Common uses

  • Collect, transform and route logs, metrics and traces to any destination
  • Reduce observability costs by filtering, sampling and enriching telemetry at the edge
  • A vendor neutral pipeline between your agents and your logging or metrics backend
