Overview
XBackBone is a lightweight, self-hosted file and screenshot sharing server. It works out of the box with ShareX and compatible clients, so a screenshot or file is captured, uploaded and turned into an instant shareable link in one keystroke, and it gives you a clean web interface to browse, publish, hide, tag and revoke everything you have shared, with inline previews for images, video, audio, text and code.
It suits individuals and teams who want a private, data owning alternative to public image and file hosts: a personal upload endpoint for ShareX, a shared drop for a team, or a simple media host where every file stays on infrastructure they control. Administrators manage users, system settings and the storage backend, which can stay on the local disk or move to S3, Google Cloud, Azure Blob, Dropbox or FTP as needs grow.
Why the cloudimg image
cloudimg delivers XBackBone fully installed and configured, so the web interface answers the moment the instance boots with no web installer wizard to click through. The image is secure by default: it ships with a single administrator account whose password is generated uniquely on each instance's first boot and written to a root only file, so there is no shared or baked credential, and the installer directory is removed from the image. The self-contained database and uploaded files stay on your own server, the base is fully patched with unattended security upgrades enabled, and every deployment is paired with a step by step deploy guide, backed by 24/7 cloudimg support.
