Overview

ZenphotoCMS is a mature, open source photo gallery and lightweight content management system used to publish and organise images and videos online. Arrange media into a browsable album and subalbum tree, apply themes, tag and categorise, read EXIF and IPTC metadata, enable comments, and manage user accounts with per-album access control. Its built-in Zenpage CMS adds static pages plus a news and blog section, and a full backend lets you manage everything from one web interface. This image delivers ZenphotoCMS fully installed, configured and security hardened, so a complete gallery platform is running within minutes of launch. The current release available is ZenphotoCMS 1.6.8.

Application Stack

ZenphotoCMS runs on PHP 8.3 with OPcache and all required extensions (gd, exif, intl, mbstring, mysqli, curl, zip and more), served by nginx with php-fpm, with MariaDB as the database. Gallery media lives in a dedicated albums directory, and a small sample album ships so the gallery is populated the moment it boots. The setup wizard has already been driven and its setup environment protected, so the install directory is never exposed.

Secure By Default

On the first boot of your instance a one-shot service generates a fresh MariaDB password and a fresh ZenphotoCMS administrator password, unique to that instance, and writes them to a root only file. No shared or default administrator login ships in the image, and the database listens only on the loopback interface.

Ready To Use

The Zenphoto code tree, web server and database are all configured, with the application files and the database on dedicated, independently resizable storage volumes. Browse to the instance address to see the public gallery, then sign in at the backend to manage albums, images, themes, the Zenpage CMS pages and news, tags, comments, and per-album access control. ZenphotoCMS serves on whatever hostname or IP address you reach it on.
