Calibre-Web, the open source self hosted web reader for your Calibre ebook library, serving books through a clean browser interface minutes after it boots.
Calibre-Web is an open source, self hosted web interface for browsing, reading and downloading the books in a Calibre ebook library. From an ordinary browser it offers an in browser reader, full text search, custom shelves, per user accounts and an OPDS feed so dedicated reading apps can pull straight from your library. It is the distinct web frontend project (separate from the Calibre desktop application) and suits anyone who wants a private ebook server they fully control, with their books kept on their own infrastructure.
The image ships with an empty Calibre library already initialised, so there is no first run setup wizard: you sign in, upload your EPUB, PDF, MOBI and other files, organise them into shelves and read them in the browser or sync them to a reading device over OPDS.
cloudimg delivers Calibre-Web fully installed and configured behind an nginx reverse proxy with the calibre command line tools included, so a working ebook server answers the moment the instance boots. On the first boot of every instance a one shot service rotates the built in administrator account to a fresh, unique password and writes it to a file only the root user can read, so no shared or default login ships in the image. The Calibre library and settings database live on a dedicated data disk kept separate from the operating system disk that you can snapshot and resize independently, and every deployment is paired with a step by step deploy guide and backed by 24/7 support.
