Overview
Fresns is an open source, self hosted community and social network platform. It is a content and social engine with a web admin panel and an open API, designed so you can run a forum, a microblog or a full social network and reach members across the web, mobile apps and mini programs from one backend. Members hold accounts and profiles, publish posts and comments, follow each other, join groups and react and interact, while operators curate content, roles, languages and policies from the admin panel.
The platform is built to be extended rather than forked: a plugin, theme and app marketplace architecture lets you add front end engines, keyword and content plugins, storage and login providers and whole feature modules, and everything is internationalised so a community can run in the languages you choose. Because the front end is decoupled from the core, the same backend can drive a website theme today and a mobile client tomorrow without moving your data.
Why the cloudimg image
The cloudimg image is a complete Fresns appliance rather than an empty server: the database, its least privilege user, the Laravel application key and the administrator account are all created uniquely on your first boot, so nothing ships with a shared or default secret. The web server is held back until that first boot has finished, so the Fresns installer is never exposed on the public internet, and the administrator, application database and database root credentials are written to a root only file. The interface is set to English, the scheduler that Fresns needs in production runs as a managed service, the database is bound to loopback only, and the database and application tiers each get their own dedicated data volume.
