Manifold, an open source scholarly and digital publishing platform, ready on first boot.
Manifold is an open source platform for scholarly and digital publishing, developed by the University of Minnesota Press, CUNY and Cast Iron Coding. It turns monographs and journals into living, annotatable digital works with an interactive reader, a resource library and collaborative annotation, so university presses and academic authors can publish and read on infrastructure they control.
cloudimg ships Manifold 9.2.0 on Ubuntu 24.04 from the official v9 container images, hardened, fully patched and pinned so it never silently upgrades. On first boot a per-VM administrator, PostgreSQL password and Rails secret are generated into a root-only file, and reader self-registration never grants admin. PostgreSQL full-text search means no Elasticsearch, and it fits a Standard_B2s with no swap. Supported 24/7.
