Overview

Open Monograph Press (OMP) is the Public Knowledge Project's open source platform for the entire lifecycle of scholarly book and monograph publishing. It takes a title from submission through a two stage editorial and peer review workflow, into copyediting and production, and out to a reader facing catalogue and storefront, with support for series and categories, chapters and multiple publication formats, ONIX metadata and DOIs, configurable editorial roles, and several independent presses in a single installation.

It suits university presses, scholarly societies and independent publishers who want to run their own book publishing operation, from manuscript intake to a public catalogue, without handing their titles or their reviewer data to a third party service.

Why the cloudimg image

cloudimg delivers OMP fully patched on a hardened base, with the installer already completed and locked away so the platform answers the moment the instance boots. A unique administrator password and a unique database password are generated on first boot and written to a root only file, and the web application only begins serving once those per instance credentials are in place, so there is no default or shared login anywhere in the image. The application derives its address from the request, so it answers correctly on whatever address you reach it on. Uploaded manuscripts and the database live on a dedicated data disk kept separate from the operating system disk, and every deployment is paired with a step by step deploy guide and backed by 24/7 cloudimg support.
