Overview

Paperless-ngx turns a folder of documents into a searchable, tagged digital archive. This build pairs it with Apache Tika and Gotenberg so Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument and RTF files are ingested as first class documents: Tika extracts their text and metadata, Gotenberg renders a PDF preview, and the result is indexed and full text searchable alongside your scans and PDFs.

Why the cloudimg image

Every component is installed, wired together and proven end to end before the image is captured, so Office ingestion works the moment the VM boots with nothing to configure. Apache Tika and Gotenberg are bound to the loopback interface and never exposed, leaving the Paperless web interface as the only public listener. The administrator password, database password and application secret key are generated uniquely on each VM's first boot into a root only file, and the documents and database sit on dedicated data disks you can resize independently. Backed by a paired deployment guide and 24/7 cloudimg support.

Common uses

  • Archive and search company Word and Excel documents alongside scanned paperwork
  • Give a finance or HR team a private, self hosted record system with full text search
  • Consolidate mixed format document stores into one indexed archive
