Overview
PhotoPrism is an open source, self hosted application for browsing, organising and sharing your photos and videos. It indexes your collection into a fast, searchable library, automatically tagging what is in each picture and grouping faces, places and moments so you can find any shot in seconds. A modern web interface gives you a photo grid, an interactive map, a calendar and albums, with metadata, labels and locations extracted automatically on indexing. The machine learning that powers tagging and face recognition runs entirely on the CPU, so no graphics card is required, and every photo stays on infrastructure you control rather than a third party photo platform. It suits anyone who wants a private alternative to cloud photo services, whether for a household, a photographer or a team.
Why the cloudimg image
cloudimg ships PhotoPrism as the official container paired with its recommended MariaDB database, reverse proxied on port 80 by nginx and ready within minutes of launch. The database, imported originals and generated thumbnails sit on a dedicated, independently resizable data volume that is re provisioned with every instance. Nothing ships with a known login: a fresh administrator account and every database secret are generated on the machine's first boot and written to a root only file, so no two deployments share a credential and the app can never start on a default password. A small public domain demo library is indexed on first boot so the grid is ready to explore the moment you sign in. The base is fully patched with unattended security updates enabled, and every image comes with a step by step deploy guide and 24/7 cloudimg support.
