Overview

Euterpe is a self hosted music streaming server. It indexes a music library you already own, reads the tags and cover art out of your own files, and streams them back through a clean browser player, a documented REST API and a Subsonic compatible API that works with a wide range of third party mobile clients. Browse and search by artist, album or track, play gaplessly in the browser, build playlists, download a whole album as a zip, and pair phones with a QR code.

It suits anyone who wants their own music collection available anywhere without handing it, or their listening habits, to a streaming service. The library ships empty by design: this is a server for music you already own, and no recordings of any kind are included with it.

Why the cloudimg image

cloudimg builds Euterpe from the pinned upstream release tag against this operating system's own audio tagging and Unicode libraries, then reverse proxies it behind nginx, so a working music server answers within minutes of launch. The image is secure by default and has no password to look up: nothing at all listens on the public port as shipped, and the server cannot start until first boot has generated that machine's own administrator password and its own token signing secret, at which point the public site is opened. The web player, the REST API and the Subsonic API are all authenticated. Everything is backed by 24/7 support.
