Overview

Launch a production-ready REDAXO CMS in minutes with zero shared credentials. Hardened Apache, PHP 8.3 and MariaDB stack with automated first-boot setup and 24/7 cloudimg expert support.

Why the cloudimg image

This image arrives installed, configured and hardened, so there is no manual setup before you can use it. It is built on a patched base, runs with credentials generated uniquely for your instance on first boot, and passes an automated health check before every release. Every deployment is backed by 24/7 support from cloudimg engineers.

Key features

  • A working content management backend from first boot, not an installer. Apache 2.4, PHP 8.3 and MariaDB 10.11 are pre-configured, the database schema is built and the administrator account is created automatically during a one-shot first-boot process that completes in minutes. You sign in to a real editing interface rather than walking a setup wizard on a public address, eliminating hours of manual stack assembly, database hardening and installer configuration.
  • Zero shared or default passwords across any deployment. The published image contains no configuration file, no database and no user account. Every instance mints its own database and administrator passwords at first boot into a root-only file. The web server refuses to serve any request until provisioning completes. Pre-capture checks verify no public sockets beyond SSH and HTTP, no usable password hashes on non-root accounts, and no residual maintenance credentials.
  • 24/7 cloudimg expert support with one-hour average response on critical issues. Engineers available around the clock by email and live chat for deployment, upgrades, addon and template development, PHP and Apache performance tuning, TLS setup, MariaDB administration, and integration with AWS services including S3, CloudFront, SES and RDS.

## REDAXO - Production-Ready Content Management

Launch a fully configured REDAXO content management system in minutes, not hours. No manual installation, no shared password, and no half-finished installer waiting on the public internet. It removes the hours spent assembling a web stack, hardening a database and walking an installation wizard, so your team starts modelling content instead of provisioning servers.

REDAXO is an open source PHP content management system developed since 2004 by Yakamara Media. It is deliberately unopinionated: rather than forcing a fixed page model on you, it gives you modules and templates you define yourself, so the editing interface matches the site you are actually building. Editors get a clean backend with a structured page tree, a media pool and reusable content blocks; developers get plain PHP templates, a documented API, a command line console and an addon system. The content model is yours rather than the vendor's, which is why REDAXO suits agency work and corporate sites equally.

This image ships REDAXO 5.21.2 with the full core addon set: structure and page tree, media pool and media manager, metadata fields, user and role administration, backup and export, the cronjob scheduler, the addon installer and the backend theme.

## Why This Image Over Alternatives

Most self-install content management images hand you an installer on a public IP address and trust you to finish it before someone else does. This one cannot be installed by a stranger. The web server does not serve a single request until the per-instance first boot has completed, and that first boot runs the REDAXO console setup itself: it generates a fresh database password and a fresh administrator password, creates the database and a least-privilege database user, builds the schema, creates the administrator account and then closes the setup routine permanently. The published image contains no configuration file, no database and no user account, so nothing is shared between deployments.

## Application Stack

  • REDAXO 5.21.2 with its complete standard addon set
  • PHP 8.3 with OPcache and every extension REDAXO requires, plus curl, gd and zip for the media pool
  • Apache 2.4 with mod_php, clean URL rewriting and the REDAXO directory protections active
  • MariaDB 10.11 bound to the loopback interface only
  • Everything from the distribution archives, no third-party repositories added

## Secure First Boot and Hardening

On first launch a one-shot service resolves the instance address from instance metadata, generates unique credentials, provisions the database, runs the console setup, seeds a starter page and writes the results to a root-only file. No password is reused across deployments and none is recoverable from the published image.

The database is never reachable from the network. Before capture, executable checks refuse to publish if anything but the SSH and web ports is bound publicly, if any non-root account carries a usable password hash, or if a database maintenance credential survives. The image is TLS-ready: attach a certificate with AWS Certificate Manager, or run Let's Encrypt directly. The database directory and the application tree each live on their own EBS volume, so content and media grow and snapshot independently of the operating system disk.

## Compatible AWS Services

Amazon S3 for media and backup archives, CloudFront for global delivery, SES for editor notifications, and RDS if you move the database to a managed engine.

## Use Cases

  • Corporate and agency web sites - a bespoke content model with custom templates, from a 50-page catalogue to a 500-page corporate portal, updated by non-technical editors
  • Multi-language sites - language handling is part of the core structure addon, supporting parallel page trees for regional teams
  • Editorial platforms - a page tree, a media pool and reusable blocks for teams publishing across multiple sections
  • Headless and hybrid delivery - plain PHP templates and a documented API behind a custom front end

## Getting Started

Launch an instance and retrieve your unique administrator credentials from the root-only file generated at first boot. You will have a working REDAXO backend ready for content modelling within minutes of launch. The paired deployment guide covers launch, first sign-in, TLS and backups.

## 24/7 cloudimg Support

cloudimg builds and supports production-hardened images for open source platforms. Every subscription includes around-the-clock support from our engineers by email and live chat, covering deployment, upgrades, addons, templates and modules, performance tuning, TLS and database administration.
