Overview
RosarioSIS is a complete open source Student Information System for primary and secondary schools and colleges. One web application covers student records and enrolment, the course catalogue and scheduling, the teacher gradebook, report cards, transcripts and GPA, daily and period attendance, discipline, eligibility, student billing and payments, staff accounting, food service, school calendars and marking periods, and a portal where parents and students follow grades, attendance and schedules.
It suits schools and school groups that want their student data on infrastructure they control rather than in a hosted service, institutions that need a free and open source alternative to a commercial SIS, and administrators who want a single system for enrolment, timetabling, grading and billing that ships with interface translations for dozens of languages.
Why the cloudimg image
cloudimg delivers RosarioSIS fully installed from the official 12.9.4 release, with Apache 2.4 serving it over HTTPS, PHP 8.3 through PHP FPM on a local socket and a PostgreSQL 16 database bound to localhost. The database is installed during the image build from the command line, so the RosarioSIS web installer is never reachable on your VM and there is nothing to set up before you sign in.
Nothing shared ships in the image. RosarioSIS's upstream demo accounts come with passwords equal to their usernames: the administrator's is replaced before it is ever written, and the demo teacher, parent and student accounts cannot sign in until you give them a password. Your VM generates its own administrator password, database password and HTTPS certificate on first boot and writes them to a root only file, and RosarioSIS asks you to choose a new administrator password at the first sign in. Password reset links always point at the VM's own address, uploaded files are never executed, and only SSH and HTTPS are reachable from outside. Backed by 24/7 cloudimg support.
