# Why MintHCM on AWS Marketplace? MintHCM is a free, open source Human Capital Management and HR platform that gives your organisation full ownership of its HR data with no vendor lock-in. Unlike SaaS HR tools with recurring per-seat fees, MintHCM runs entirely inside your own VPC - you control data residency, access, and retention. Unlike a manual installation that can take hours of configuration, this image delivers a complete HR system running within minutes of launch with no setup wizard required. Manage employee records, organisational structure and positions, recruitment and candidates, time off and leave, timesheets, projects, and HR reporting from a modern single-page interface. Built on the proven SuiteCRM and SugarCRM lineage, MintHCM is the current release available in this image. ## Application Stack MintHCM is a PHP application running on PHP 8.2 served by Apache, with a Percona Server 8.0 database and an internal Elasticsearch index that powers list views and Global Search. The MintHCM legacy cron runs every minute to process background jobs and scheduled tasks. The appliance is orchestrated so you land directly on the sign-in page. ## Secure By Default The image ships with no installed application and no credentials. On the first boot of your instance, a one-shot service generates a fresh administrator password, a fresh database password, and a fresh site secret - all unique to that instance. It then runs the headless installation with those secrets and writes the administrator password to a root-only file. No shared or default credentials ship in the image, and the internal Elasticsearch index is bound to the loopback interface only. This approach eliminates the credential-reuse risks common in pre-built images. ## Ready To Use The application, web server, database, and search index are all configured, with the database and search index on dedicated, independently resizable storage volumes.
