Overview

Tianji is an all-in-one, open source, self-hosted insight hub that brings website analytics, uptime and status monitoring, server telemetry and status pages together under a single polished dashboard, so you can watch everything that matters about your sites and servers from one place instead of stitching together several separate tools. This image delivers Tianji fully installed and hardened, so a working insight hub is running within minutes of launch instead of assembling a Node.js runtime, a database and a reverse proxy by hand.

Application Stack

The Tianji Node.js server runs as a dedicated unprivileged system user bound to the loopback interface and reverse-proxied behind nginx on port 80, with PostgreSQL for durable state and WebSocket support for the real-time dashboard. The PostgreSQL database tier and the Tianji application tree each live on their own dedicated, independently resizable data disk, so the database and the application are separated from the operating system disk and survive instance replacement.

One Dashboard For Everything

Privacy-friendly website analytics, HTTP, TCP and ping uptime monitors, server status and telemetry reporting and public status pages are all built in. Add a website to collect analytics, add a monitor to watch an endpoint, publish a status page for your users, and see it all on one real-time dashboard.

Secure First Boot

Tianji seeds a default administrator account in its database. This image closes that safely: on the first boot of every instance a one-shot service generates a fresh PostgreSQL password, a fresh signing secret and a fresh administrator password unique to that instance, applies the new administrator password before the dashboard is exposed, keeps open registration disabled, and seeds a demo website and monitor so the dashboard is populated. No shared or default password ever ships in the image, there is no known default administrator login, and the credentials are written to a file only the root user can read.

Ready To Use

The dashboard is served on port 80 through nginx. Browse to the instance, sign in with the generated administrator credentials, and start adding sites and monitors. systemd manages Tianji, nginx and PostgreSQL for automatic restarts and clean logging, the operating system is fully patched at build time and continues to receive unattended security updates, and 24/7 cloudimg support is included.
