Overview

Medama is a self hostable, privacy focused website analytics platform. It gives you clear, real time insight into who visits your websites without cookies, without logging IP addresses and without any additional visitor identifiers, so it helps you stay compliant with GDPR, PECR and similar regulations. Visitors are measured with a lightweight tracker script of less than one kilobyte, and a single self contained application shows live and historical statistics for every site you add: top pages, referrers, UTM campaigns, and breakdowns by browser, operating system, device, country and language. An OpenAPI based server makes the data easy to integrate into your own tools.

Why the cloudimg image

The cloudimg image runs the upstream release pinned at build and puts Medama behind an nginx reverse proxy that is ready for your own certificate, with the internal service port kept off the internet by the default firewall rules. There is no shared default password: a unique administrator credential is generated on first boot, stored in a root only file and different on every instance you launch, so no secret is ever baked into the image. It ships with a paired step by step deploy guide and 24/7 cloudimg support.

Common uses

  • Measure website traffic without cookies or personal data while staying GDPR and PECR compliant
  • Run a self hosted, privacy respecting alternative to third party analytics services
  • Track pages, referrers and UTM campaigns across multiple sites from one real time dashboard

Key features

  • Self-hostable, cookie-free, privacy-focused website analytics with a real-time dashboard and a sub-1KB tracker - no cookies, no IP logging and no visitor identifiers, helping you stay GDPR and PECR compliant
  • Pre-configured behind an nginx reverse proxy and ready to run within minutes of launch, shipping as a single self-contained binary with embedded databases so it stays lightweight and starts instantly
  • Secure by default: the internal service port is not internet-exposed, a unique admin credential is generated on first boot and never baked into the image, and the platform is backed by 24/7 cloudimg support

Description

This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for cloudimg support services.

Medama is a self-hostable, privacy-focused website analytics platform that gives you clear, real-time insight into your website traffic without cookies, without logging IP addresses and without any additional visitor identifiers. Because it collects no personal data by design, it helps you stay compliant with GDPR, PECR and similar privacy regulations while still answering the questions that matter: which pages are popular, where visitors come from, which referrers and campaigns drive traffic, and how your audience breaks down by browser, operating system, device and country.

Visitors are measured with a lightweight tracker script of less than one kilobyte that loads almost instantly and never slows your pages down. The analytics dashboard is a single, self-contained application that shows live and historical statistics for every website you add, and an OpenAPI-based server makes it straightforward to integrate the data into your own tools and reporting.

This image delivers Medama fully installed and reverse proxied behind nginx, so a working analytics server is running within minutes of launch, with no manual package installation, no dependency troubleshooting and no proxy configuration required. It ships as a single self-contained binary with two embedded databases, so it stays lightweight, starts instantly and runs comfortably on a small instance, and systemd manages the service for automatic restarts and clean logging.

Unlike a bare deployment, the image is configured to be secure by default. Medama runs behind an nginx reverse proxy that is ready for your TLS certificate, and the internal service port is not exposed to the internet by the default security group. Crucially, there is no shared default password: a unique administrator credential is generated automatically on first boot, stored in a root-only file on the instance, and is different on every machine you launch, so no secret is ever baked into the image. The dashboard requires a localhost or HTTPS connection to sign in, which the accompanying guide walks you through using a simple SSH tunnel or your own domain.

Features include a real-time analytics dashboard, a sub-1KB cookieless tracker, per-page and per-referrer statistics, UTM source, medium and campaign tracking, browser, operating system, device, country and language breakdowns, and a clean JSON API for integration. This is a repackaged open source software product with additional charges for cloudimg support services. Medama's core and dashboard are distributed under the Apache License 2.0 and its tracker under the MIT License.
